DRAMA (THEATRE)

 

DESCRIPTION: Drama is a presentation of a portion of a play by a
French/Italian/Spanish speaking author, or an adaptation
from a literary work. A student from any level may participate.

 

CONDITIONS:

A. Since this is a group competition any number of registered
students may participate regardless of level.

B. Use of English will result in immediate disqualification,
unless considered an integral part of the text.

C. No scripts or prompting will be allowed. Any school violating
this rule will be disqualified.

D. Costumes and props will be considered in the overall evaluation
but will carry minimum weight. Each school must provide
its props, equipment, etc.

 


TIME LIMIT: A time limit of thirteen (13) to fifteen (15) minutes (which includes
set-up, introduction and dismantling) will be strictly enforced.
Any play exceeding the time limit will be stopped.

 

CRITERIA FOR EVALUATION:

1. Overall intonation and rhythm.

2. Correct pronunciation and stress.

3. Proficiency in handling difficult structures.

4. Memorization.

5. How well students perform.

6. Time.

 

NOTE:

Judges will be provided with a list of the students participating in each play, along with their language level Judges will take into consideration both the students' level and the difficulty of their role.
