DESCRIPTION:

For the project the student will bring a pictorial representation of a traditional, cultural, historical or
folkloric aspect of the French/German/Italian/Spanish world. This year's theme is:

Sports as an expression of cultural identity

CONDITIONS:

A. Any school is limited to only one entry per language.

B. All levels can participate.

C. The pictorial representation cannot exceed 3' x 3' in size.

D. The creativity, originality and artistic skills of the student must be evident in the final product.
It cannot consist of strictly commercial or bought items.

E. The Project must be accompanied by a typed explanation of a minimum of l00 words. Levels I and II
will write at least an overview paragraph, followed by a detailed explanation in English. All other
levels will write the entire paper in the target language. Spanish S students will write the entire paper
in Spanish.

F. The student must be present during judging and be prepared to answer questions.

CRITERIA FOR EVALUATION:

1. Relevancy to the theme.
2. Originality and craftsmanship.
3. Written explanation.
4. Responses to oral questions.
